Cervical facet syndrome

Facet syndrome: Osteoarthritis at the level of the facet joints at the back of the vertebrae, allowing flexion and extension movements of the neck. These joints are rich in nerve endings and extremely painful once irritated. This phenomenon occurs when disc degeneration (pinching, herniated disc or bulging) forces the body to adopt an analgesic posture, thus placing more weight on the joint facets that are too fragile to support it.
